OREANDA-NEWS. October 17, 2011. According to M2M telematics company groups’s experts, the sales of subscriber telematic terminals based on GLONASS has increased by 4 times within the last 2.5 years. The share of GLONASS/GPS equipment in the 1st half of 2011 alone has reached 82%. For reference, in 2009, this number was 58%.

Company group’s experts confirm that the positive trend on this market is mostly caused by:

the state policy for popularization of GLONASS technologies,

reduction of the GLONASS equipment cost,

growing attention of large business companies to the transport management and monitoring systems based on GLONASS,

promotion of M2M technologies which are an effective business problem-solving tool,

growth of GLONASS solutions implementation for passenger carriage in order to provide maximum safety and increase the quality of transportation services in the regions of Russian Federation.

Currently the М2М telematics company group provides the technological platform for over 5 thousand dispatch centers, of which over 100 are passenger carriage dispatch centers. GLONASS-based equipment of “M2M-telematics” has been installed onto over 100,000 vehicles, which makes 41% of GLONASS-equipped vehicles in the market of vehicular telematics and satellite navigation (according to the report of “GLONASS/GNSS-Forum” Association, 2010).

"The trend of extreme growth would only increase, especially taking into consideration the launch of large-scale projects based on GLONASS. The volume of the navigation market will increase from 10 bln. roubles in 2011 to 120 bln. in 2015. The cost of double-standard GLONASS/GPS-equipment is quickly approaching the cost of GPS equipment, gradually pushing the latter out of the market. Today, overpayment for the double-standard equimpent, or, in other words, for the more reliable vehicle location service, becomes insignificant. I expect that in 2012 the sales of GLONASS equipment would make 90% of the total sales volume", - noted the executive director of М2М telematics company group Aleksey Smyatskikh.
