OREANDA-NEWS. October 18, 2011. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov urges peasants not to be afraid of risks in the grain market. He has stated about it at a meeting of the Economic Press Club.

The Head of Government has urged agrarians to complete harvesting of corn, do not be afraid to invest money in it, because there is a deficit of the foodstuffs in foreign markets, and a good conjuncture for export grain-growing amplifies. "We need about 5 million tons of corn for internal purposes, and we have already threshed 12 million tons and we expect its crop at level of 20 million tons. Now our task - to keep the price in the domestic market that the manufacturer has paid back their costs," Mykola Azarov has emphasized.

He has stressed that deficit of the foodstuffs in the world markets remains, therefore demand for corn would be saved, and the prices for it would increase.

Mykola Azarov has reminded that recently peasants and grain traders have expressed concern lowering of the world prices for the grain-growing. The Government has carried out consultations with agrarians, during which the Prime Minister has assured that this temporary tactical phenomenon, and the prices for the grain-growing would be growing, as is happening now. Therefore, the grain traders who has waited and now enter the market, would get profit.

"Export of the grain is aligned now, the more that the world grain market prices are raising. So, there was a serious falling of the prices, but I said to peasants that this falling cyclical and soon would be a rise in prices. So it happened," Mykola Azarov has underlined.
