OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2011. MPX, an energy company of Eike Batista’s EBX Group, will once again sponsor actions by the Peter Pan Association (APP) by building a park adjacent to the Pediatric Center for Cancer (CPC). A total of BRL  250,000 will be invested in installing a recreation area with a lake, creek, trees and toys for the children and youth under treatment at the hospital, which is a reference in humanized treatment in the Northeast region.  The cornerstone will be placed on Thursday, October 20th. The sponsorship complements the BRL  1 million donation made in 2010 by MPX for finishing the CPC.

“Ever since we at MPX had the opportunity to get to know the activities developed by the Peter Pan Association, we were charmed by and sympathetic to the dedication and care offered to these children and youth,” said MPX Implementation and Operations Director Marcus Temke. The company’s support to the institution was recognized with the Peter Pan Friend Award. “The park has been a dream since we opened the Pediatric Center for Cancer. During the event, one of MPX’s directors talked about the possibility of building it. Today, we are very happy to announce this new space, which will offer more joy in the care of our little ones,” said APP President Olga Maia.

The introduction ceremony for the “Crianxa” Park –as the recreation area will be named in reference to the letter “x,” present in all EBX Group ventures – will be honored by the presence of children currently under treatment, former patients, and Hospital staff. A Golden Trumpet Tree sapling will be planted during the event, symbolizing the seed of goodness.

The Pediatric Center for Cancer is a model hospital for humanized treatment. Decorated with children’s themes, the institution offers 71 beds and is equipped with toy rooms and playgrounds. The Peter Pan Association promotes special volunteer programs, support to patient families, workshops for mothers, and other innovative actions in patient care. The Hospital serves around 1,500 children and youth, including some from other states.

The voluntary investment in the Peter Pan Association is another action by the company in Ceara state supporting children’s health. MPX also works on illness prevention and sanitary and nutritional education with the city of Sao Goncalo do Amarante and non-governmental organization Inmed Brasil, which specializes in children’s health.
