OREANDA-NEWS. October 25, 2011. Individuals’ remittances from Russia to Moldova in the first half of 2011 grew 35.8 percent in comparison with the same period last year, to USD 461 mln. Particularly, the amount of remittances from Russia to Moldova in the first quarter of 2011 totaled USD 184 mln, in the second quarter of 2011 - USD 277 mln, while in the same period last year, these indicators amounted to USD 139 mln and USD 198 mln, respectively, according to the Russian Central Bank.

The average amount of a money transfer from Russia to Moldova in the first quarter of 2011 was USD 455, in the second quarter of 2011 - USD 519. In the same periods last year, the amounts were USD 429 and USD 479, respectively.

Moldova ranks the seventh among the CIS states in terms of the volume of remittances from Russia in the first six months of 2011 after Uzbekistan (USD 1,634 mln), Ukraine (USD 1,228 mln), Tajikistan (USD 1,193 mln), Kyrgyzia (USD 685 mln), Armenia (USD 533 mln), Azerbaijan (USD 488 mln).

According to the National Bank of Moldova, the overall amount of remittances to Moldova from individuals from abroad through banks in the first six months of 2011 totaled USD 643.23 mln, up 20.2% from the same period of 2011.
