OREANDA-NEWS. October 25, 2011. RTSoft company has successfully completed activities on the metrological certification of a new line of multifunctional measurement units MIP-02 (Order № 4992 of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology, September 16, 2011).

Multifunctional measurement units MIP-02 are meant for measuring parameters of a three-phase power grid and are used at the power generation facilities and industry. The number of certified units include models for the systems of data collection and remote control, technical account of the electric power, vector measurements (magnitude and phase measurement with an accurate astronomical time-bound), as well as to measure the quality of electric power in accordance with all-Union State Standard GOST 61000-4-7 and GOST 61000-4-30 for class A. To date, MIP-02 is one of the first devices in Russia certified to GOST R 61000-4-30 for class A.

Recently, a lot of attention is paid to the issue of electric power quality. New standards have been adopted, which impose strict requirements for the set of measured parameters of quality and accuracy of their measurement. Increasingly, the quality of electricity supplied becomes the subject of judicial examination; and appropriate technical means are required for dispute resolutions. Both consumers and suppliers of electricity are interested in setting the units for quality parameters measurement.

In this regard, RTSoft specialists provide answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about the product:

In which versions of MIP-02 is there a function of power quality control?

The quality control function is provided in all structural designs of MIP-02. The quality control is possible for class A or class B. The function of quality control is declared at the time of order of the unit.

To what extent is the function of the power quality control implemented and how it meets the standards?

Control function of power quality is implemented in MIP-02 in its entirety and it meets the following standards:

GOST 13109-97 "Electric power. Compatibility of technical equipment electromagnetic. Quality standards for electric power in power-supply systems for general service".

GOST R 53333-2008 "Electric power. Compatibility of technical equipment electromagnetic. Quality control for electric power in power-supply systems for general service".

GOST 51317.4.30-2008 (IEC 61000-4-30:2008) "Electric power. Compatibility of technical equipment electromagnetic. Methods of measuring the quality parameters of electric power".

GOST R 8.655-2009 "Means of measuring the quality parameters of electric power".

GOST 51317.4.7-2008 (IEC 61000-4-7:2002). General guidline on measuring instruments and measurement of harmonics and interharmonics for power-supply systems and hardware connected to them.

Could MIP-02 with the function of power quality control be used as part of standard automated technological process control systems and data collection and transmission systems?

Of course, the product was developed specifically for this purpose.

Is there a necessity to update hardware and software complex of automated technological process control systems in terms of integration, archiving, visualization, and other functions?

All power quality parameters could be obtained via protocol IEC 870-5-104. This simplifies significantly the integration with any existing and newly designed systems. Archiving and visualization are performed using standard tools.

Is there the control of short-term overvoltage implemented in MIP-02?

Measurement of short-term overvoltage coefficient and duration is provided. At the moment the measurement interval is 20 ms, in accordance with the above mentioned regulations.
