OREANDA-NEWS. October 25, 2011. RTSoft company presented its own technical solutions for the construction of digital substations at the 2nd International Conference IPNES-2011 "Innovations in electric power industry", which was held on September 6-8, 2011 at the All-Russian Exhibition Center (Moscow).

RTSoft experts gave a talk on the principles and decisions of the modern approach applied in the company to the automation of power facilities at the session "Global wide area measurement system (WAMS and WACS). Digital substation".

Thus, RTSoft offers several solutions at implementing projects on digital substation construction. The most simple and economical - digital substation with the existing system of rely protection and automation system. The system is based on the usage of intelligent field controllers armored and mounted in close proximity to power equipment, - SPRECON-E-C. Controllers perform collection of discrete signals, implementation of control commands and locks for switching devices of the corresponding affixation. For communication between controllers and other intelligent equipment of the substation there are MMS protocol and mechanism GOOSE used, described in IEC 61850. This solution provides for drastic reduction of the use of control cables at the design and installation of substations.

Another option is building a digital substation with the organization of bus line process for the relay protection and automation system. This involves the use of specialized field devices with the functionality of a merging unit and the process interface unit. This solution provides a major advantage of a digital substation to the maximum extent, but reduces flexibility in the choice of equipment suppliers.

Based on the experience of completed projects, at creating a digital substation RTSoft company follows the principles of maximum compatibility with existing solutions, incremental implementation of new technologies, ensuring an adequate level of reliability and identifying priority in implementation, depending on the desired effect.
