OREANDA-NEWS. October 25, 2011. From October 6 to 16, 2011, Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) was held at South Africa’s largest city Johannesburg. Chery showed up with a strong lineup of six key right hand models. JIMS is the largest biennial international automobile exhibition in Africa. This year’s exhibition attracted over 300 exhibitors, over 50 international automakers and over 300,000 person times of visitors.

As a representative of Chinese auto brands, Chery’s sales of passenger vehicles in South Africa outperform other Chinese automakers. This time, Chery appeared with six key right hand models, including launched S11, S12 and T11, and upcoming M11, M12 and A13. The new models drew extensive attention from the media and consumers, especially M11 and M12 which caught eyes of many consumers. At the show, Chery also exhibited Z3 sports car and M1 electric car. The two special models not only showcased the strength of Chinese automakers, but also enhanced Chery’s brand image and pointed out Chery’s future direction. Thanks to elaborate planning and preparation by Chery’s South Africa office and distributor AAD, Chery’s booth became one of the most popular booths in the ten-day exhibition by its gorgeous models, fine arrangements and all-round promotion. According to statistics, a total of over 150 potential customers placed early orders at Chery’s booth.

Since entering South Africa in May 2008, Chery has sold nearly 10,000 units in the country, enjoyed the largest number of car possession among Chinese auto brands, and once overtook international brands like Renault, Peugeot, Fiat and Tata. Chery’s success in South Africa has laid a solid foundation for Chery’s further development in Africa.
