Chile enjoys the highest degree of free trade currently in Latin American countries, and has concluded free trade agreements with nearly 60 countries and regions like the U.S., the EU, Japan, Korea and China. Chile’s new vehicle sales are expected to top 300,000 units in 2011, registering a new record. Therefore, Chile has become a market of strategic importance to automakers. By this September in 2011, Chery’s cumulative sales in Chile had hit 3,000 units, maintaining the sales title among Chinese Independent passenger vehicle brands for three consecutive years. The Uruguayan auto market is relatively small, with total sales of 45,000 units in 2011. However, Chery achieved an all-time success in the country in 2011. In the first eight months of 2011, Chery exported over 2,000 units to Uruguay, ranking 4th with 8% share of the country’s passenger vehicle market, topping the list of Chinese auto brands and overtaking numerous international brands. Improved Fulwin has made up Chery’s gap in the segment in Chile and Uruguay, will further expand Chery’s coverage in both markets and meet the demands of more local consumers.
