OREANDA-NEWS. October 26, 2011. Ingosstrakh Insurance Company has compensated in full the damage to one of its customer - one of the largest Russian banks under valuable property insurance policy.

In March 2011 a group of unidentified individuals, having illegally entered into one of the bank’s regional offices, using violence, committed a public theft of the funds belonging to the credit organization.

Regarding the said matter, Investigative Office at the Internal Affairs Directorate for Primorsky district of St. Petersburg has instituted a criminal case under Art. 161, Part 3, Section "B" of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Robbery on an especially large scale”; investigation is in progress.

According to Dmitri Shaposhnikov, the Head of Financial Institutions Department of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company, there has been a sharp increase in both - the number of crimes committed against banks and their customers, as well as the amounts of the damage incurred to them, and in the types of thefts of the funds in cash and noncash forms in the recent years. In most cases, such damage may be compensated by the insurance company, as Dmitriy Shaposhnikov noted.
