OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2011. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia), the General Directorate for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control of the Ministry of Economics, Finances and Industry of France, Adetef Public Institution of the Ministry of Economics, Finances and Industry and the Ministry for Budget, Government Accounts and State Reform of France signed the Protocol on Cooperation for 2012-2013, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The Protocol was signed in course of a visit of Russian delegation to take part in the session of the Competition Committee of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

On behalf of Russia the Protocol was signed by Deputy Head of FAS Russia, Andrey Tsyganov; on behalf of France – Natalie Homobono, the General Director, the General Directorate for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control of the Ministry of Economics, Finances and Industry of France; and Agnes Arcier, the President of Adetef Public Institution of the Ministry of Economics, Finances and Industry and the Ministry for Budget, Government Accounts and State Reform of France.

The Protocol provides for exchanging non-confidential information, experience of work on developing competition policy and investigating cases on violations of the law on competition, organizing joints events, and training courses.

The parties emphasized many years of Russian – French cooperation in competition policy, exercised as part of the Cooperation Agreement between the antimonopoly authority of the Russian Federation and the General Directorate for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control of the Ministry of Economics, Finances and Industry of the French Republic, signed on 12th November 1993.

The Agreement was further developed in the Protocols on Cooperation that outline specific events towards cooperation between the competition authorities of the two countries.

The parties stated that signing the new Protocol on Cooperation would give a fresh impulse to relations between Russia and France and emphasized importance of further progressive advancement of Russian – French cooperation in the field of competition development.

“FAS Russia endeavours to develop new forms of cooperation aimed at joint investigations of violations of the law on competition, especially suppressing cartels”, stated Deputy Head of FAS Russia, Andrey Tsyganov.
