OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2011. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) initiated a case against “Uralkalii” OJSC upon the signs of fixing monopolistically high price for potassium chloride (in violation of Clause 1 Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

FAS has investigated the complaints from consumers of potassium chloride that the growth of prices for this product was unreasonable.

Analysis of the state of competition on the market of potassium chloride, completed by FAS, has shown that “Uralkalii” OJSC had dominant position on this market.

Analysis of prices and the cost structure for potassium chloride, supplied to producers of fertilizers, also shows that increased costs of production does not match price behavior.
