OREANDA-NEWS. November 01, 2011. TNK-Uvat (a subsidiary of TNK-BP) has spent over USD 100 million on exploration work at the Uvat field in West Siberia this year, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

In line with the approved exploration programme, the Company plans to drill more than 40 appraisal and exploration wells for the Uvat project over the next three years. TNK-Uvat has completed its 2011 drilling programme in full, with exploration work being carried out in six licence blocks – five in the south of Tyumen Region (Pikhtovy, Yuzhno-Pikhtovy, Urnensky, Ust-Tegussky and Keumsky) and one in the south of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District (Yuzhno-Gavrikovsky).

The drilling work has now been completed on all wells, according to Vladimir Rudenko, Head of TNK-Uvat’s Exploration Section. The appraisal wells have confirmed previously discovered oil pools, mainly in the Jurassic and Neocomian. Testing of these formations produced commercial flows of oil. “The maximum well flow-rate was 67.5 tonnes of oil per day”, he stated, “and we’ve achieved a total of 43,300 metres of appraisal and exploration drilling.”
