OREANDA-NEWS. November 01, 2011.IIHF technical delegation has visited the capital of 2014 Winter Olympic Games for the first time.

Honorary representative of the international federation’s Counsil Yan-Oke Edwinsson and sports director Dave Fitzpatrick inspected Bolshoi and Maly Ice Palaces. Specific attention was given to the compliance of sports venues to the technical requirements of the International Olympic Committee. Experts were satisfied by the palaces’ rate of construction and the degree of completion.

At the meeting after the sites’ visit that took place with the participation of designers and representatives from contracting organizations the discussion focused on the features of operation of these ice palaces, since the sports venues are located in a special climate zone and in close proximity to the sea.

Cooling slab is currently being installed at the Bolshoi Ice Palace main hockey field. This work has already been finished at the training field. Installation of the main refrigeration equipment will soon start that will facilitate ice-making process of the hockey fields.

Roofing assembly is being finished and installation of stands is taking place at the Maly Ice Palace.
