OREANDA-NEWS. November 2, 2011. RF CCI President Sergey Katyrin has met with French Ambassador to Russia Jean de Gliniasty.

Sergey Katyrin stressed a high level of economic cooperation with France, especially in high technologies and innovations. France remains a priority partner of Russia in that area. The subject was discussed with the new President of the Paris CCI in June 2011.

Historically, the Paris Chamber is our main partner; we annually organize conferences on cooperation in the aerospace industry, telecommunications, mobile communication systems, digital television and so on. The Chamber jointly with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Strasbourg and Lower Rein hold annual conferences on support to small and medium innovative plants. The reorganization of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, which is taking place in France, could be another area of the exchange of experience. On the whole, the RF CCI thinks that the key goal of the Chambers of Russia and France is to develop inter-regional cooperation through the Chamber system, to establish the interaction between small and medium business of both countries and to target for practical results. Investments are an important subject of cooperation, as France is one of the ten top investment partners of Russia.

The French ambassador supported the opinion of the importance of cooperation in high technologies. The tradition of mutually beneficial cooperation in that area has existed since the times of President de Gaulle. The French are interested in new investment and innovations projects of Russia, among them such an interesting project as Skolkovo.

The sides also discussed other areas of business cooperation, primarily that involving Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and agreed to hold a working meeting on practical aspects of the interaction between Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries.
