OREANDA-NEWS. November 07, 2011. Within the completion of forming process of division structure UCL Holding consolidates stevedoring assets under one brand UCL Port.

Blocks of shares of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg”, CJSC “Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg”, JSC “Taganrog Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” and SP Container Terminal Ltd, which is the only owner of CJSC “Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg” are transferred to subsidiary sub-holding company UCL Port B.V., created by now especially for these purposes.

Till the end of 2011 JSC “Tuapse Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” and LLC “Multipurpose Reloading Complex” in port of Ust-Luga will be also included in UCL Port.

Reorganization of assets under unified brand is performed in accordance with the development strategy of the stevedoring division of the holding implemented in order to strengthen the position and increase competitive ability of the sea ports of the group by means of change-over to handling of more profitable and environmentally friendly cargoes. This strategy is aimed at creation of factors for bringing out this type of business to the public market. Forming of dedicated sub-holding is also focused on the optimization of management of assets, including attraction of finances for the implementation of the investment programme and increase of the efficiency of the companies included in it.

In particular, development strategy of the group UCL Port, envisages modernization of the existing terminals and construction of new ones for handling of general, bulk and container cargoes. It is expected that the turnover of the sub-holding companies will increase more than twice by 2016 in comparison with the current situation.

UCL Port consolidates stevedoring companies of the group – JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg”, LLC “Multipurpose Reloading Complex” at the North-West of Russia and also Tuapse and Taganrog Sea Ports at the South of the country. Sub-holding VBTH includes Volga, North-Western and Western Shipping Companies and a number of shipbuilding, shipping and logistic assets.

Stevedoring companies of UCL Holding handle wide range of cargoes, including metals, coal, grain, sugar and oil and oil products. Total area of covered premises and open territories of the stevedoring companies amounts to 700 thousand square meters. Total length of berths – about 10 km. Consolidated turnover of the stevedoring assets in 2010 amounted to 32 mln. tons.

In September of 2011 transportation group UCL Holding announced its intention to become an investor in construction of three terminals at the dry bulk cargo area of new sea port Taman. In particular, it is planned to construct coal terminal with the annual capacity of 16 mln. tons, terminal for handling of metals with capacity of 6 mln. tons and container terminal with capacity of 3 mln. TEUs.
