OREANDA-NEWS. November 07, 2011. Within 9 months of 2011 the group of companies “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (GC “SPSP”) transferred 690 mln. rubles for the modernization of the terminals and port infrastructure within the implementation of full-scale development programme.

Main part of funds – 505 mln. rubles – was transferred for the completion of reconstruction of facilities of the Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg (included in GC “SPSP”). In particular, construction of the additional specialized grounds for handling of container cargoes was completed. It allowed to increase throughput capacity of the terminal up to 500 000 TEUs.

About 154 mln. rubles were transferred for renewal of handling equipment fleet. New equipment will allow to increase performance when handling cargoes and also decrease costs related to maintenance and repairs.

31 mln. rubles were transferred for the reconstruction of railway tracks at the 2nd cargo area of the port. This reconstruction is aimed at increase of throughput capacity and thus it will make it possible to increase handling volumes of non-ferrous metals up to 500 thousand tons per months.

Besides, the group of companies developed the project of modernization of heat supply facility of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg”, which will allow not to use oil-fired boiler-houses. This measure will help to decrease ecological burden on the territories adjacent to the port.
