Ukrainian equities finished the day in the black yesterday, despite starting the morning down. The biggest gainers were Yenakiieve Steel (ENMZ UK) +5.36%, Stirol (STIR UK) +5.07%, and Yasynivsky Coke (YASK UK) +3.40%. Meanwhile, several blue chips closed in negative territory, led by Ukrtelecom (UTLM UK) -0.46% and UniCredit Bank Ukraine (USCB UK) -0.11%.

U.S. stocks ended Monday near their highs for the session as Wall Street monitored events in Europe, where Greece’s latest rescue package was being discussed and Italy’s borrowing costs kept rising. Italian 10-year rates surged to a Euro-era record amid concern the region’s third-largest economy was struggling to manage its debt. Asian stocks are trading mixed this morning ahead of a parliamentary vote in Italy that will show whether Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has enough support to stay in power and implement austerity measures.
