OREANDA-NEWS. November 8, 2011. HRT Participacoes em Petroleo S.A. (“Company” or “HRT”) (BM&FBOVESPA: HRTP3, TSX-V: HRP), announces the drilling results of exploratory well 1-HRT-2-AM, located in SOL-T-169 Block, in the Solimoes Sedimentary Basin, 215 km southwest of Municipal District of Tefe, in the State of Amazonas. Gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons shows were recorded in the reservoir of the Lower Jurua Formation (Carboniferous age) and the Uere Formation (Devonian age).

The well was spudded on June 21, 2011, and achieved a final depth of 3,470 meters, reaching the crystalline basement. The well is presently under evaluation and in future will be cased in order to perform formation tests, with a view to characterizing the types of fluids and the production potential of the reservoirs.

Although the presence of oil in cuttings was not observed, laboratory tests identified the presence of liquid hydrocarbons in the Uere formation (Devonian age). This result, added to humid gas anomalies, confirms HRT's geological model, which forecasts the existence of oil and humid gas in the western portion of the concession area in the Solimoes Sedimentary Basin.

HRT subsidiary HRT O&G Exploragao e Produgao de Petroleo Ltda. holds a 55% interest in 21 exploratory blocks in the Solimoes Sedimentary Basin, occupying an area of approximately 48.5 thousand km2, where 52 prospects were mapped and certified and 11 discoveries were classified as contingent resources.
