OREANDA-NEWS. November 8, 2011. 75 employees of the Bratsk Branch of Ilim Group received certificates of appreciation from Bratsk major Konstantin Klimov for their efforts to extinguish forest fires which raged in the city this autumn.

As a reminder, up to 300 employees of Ilim Group were involved in fire-fighting operations from July to October, some of them doing so after their working hours. These fire-fighting operations were carried out even during weekends.

Apart from the sanitary protection zone of the Bratsk Mill the employees were fighting fires in other residential areas of Bratsk and the Bratsk Oblast. Over 150 fires were extinguished by the employees of Ilim Group during the fire season. USD 3 million was expensed in 2011 for fire-fighting operations.

Currently, Ilim Group mitigates the effects of forest fires. In particular, Ilim Group intends to clean forests from burned trees and plant new fast-growing trees. Additional funding will be allocated for this purpose by Ilim Group.
