OREANDA-NEWS. November 14, 2011. DUBAI AIRSHOW 2011, the international aerospace exhibition, is to be held from 13 to 17 November, on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates. The event is organized with the assistance of the Dubai Emirate Government, the Dubai Emirate Civil Aviation Department and the UAE Ministry of Defense. This year State Corporation “Russian Technologies” will organize the joint Russian exposition.

In recent years, the Dubai Airshow has become a major event in the aerospace industry, on the same scale and international representation level as such well-known events as the Paris Airshow (France), Farnborough International (Great Britain), and MAKS (Russia).

50 countries are to present their achievements within the exhibition complex of Dubai International Airport. Over 55 thousand guests & visitors are expected to attend the event. The joint Russian exhibition is organized by the State Corporation “Russian Technologies”.

Companies presenting their products under the auspices of the State Corporation “Russian Technologies” include Rosoboronexport, JSC, Russian Helicopters, JSC, Compass Moscow Design Bureau, JSC, United Aircraft Corporation, JSC (Sukhoi Aviation Holding Company, JSC, MIG Russian Aircraft Corporation, JSC, Irkut Corporation, JSC), and Gas-Turbine Engineering Research and Production Center Salut. The Russian exposition will be located in the Western Hall of the Airport-Expo Complex, covering an area of approximately 425 square meters.

At the Dubai Airshow Rosoboronexport, JSC, the sole Russian exporter/ importer of the whole range of military and dual-purpose products, technologies and services, will represent products of the Russian the aerospace industry, such as Su-35 and MiG-29M/M2 multifunctional fighters, Yak-130 combat trainer, and Be-200 amphibious aircraft. Nowadays military air systems compose the major part of Russia’s military sales, accounting for almost half of all foreign sales by Rosoboronexport.

The company promotes to the North African and Middle Eastern markets such Russian-made air defence equipment, as the Antey-2500, Tor-M2E and Buk-M2E air defence missile systems, Tunguska-M1 and Pantsir-S1 air defence gun/missile systems, Igla-S man-portable air defence system, radars, electronic warfare equipment, command, control and communication systems. Air defence equipment items presently make up 13 to 14 percent of the total amount of Rosoboronexport's foreign arms sales.

Russian-made helicopters are presented at the Dubai Aeroshow by Russian Helicopters, an Oboronprom United Industrial Corporation company. Expositions of note include the lightweight Mi-34C1, the Ka-32A11BC firefighter, the latest update of the Mi-17, the Mi-171A2 helicopter, and a number of other models.

The new lightweight Mi-34C1 helicopter can be used for passenger and light cargo transportation, and for all types of monitoring, including environmental and police monitoring, oil and gas pipeline monitoring, high-voltage line monitoring, and fire surveys. Mi-34C1 can perform aerobatics, which makes it an indispensable participant of helicopter sport competitions.

The high energy effectiveness of the Ka-32A11BC firefighting helicopter means it can transport up to 5 tons of water. Special features of the Ka-32A11BC include ease of control due to coaxial main rotors. The absence of the tail rotor and the tail boom shortened to the size of the main rotors facilitates maneuvering near obstacles and enables exceptional accuracy of hovering even in areas of fire and unstable atmosphere. The helicopter can operate for a long period in concentrated smoke and fight fires on crude oil tankers and tanks, on fuel depots, chemical plants and oil refineries, in areas of oil and gas production, on the topmost floors of buildings and on roofs.

The Russian Helicopters exposition will also feature concept helicopter Mi-171А2, a deeply upgraded version of the Mi-8/17 helicopter, which is being developed on the basis of the Mi-171A1 helicopter produced at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant. The helicopter will have an enhanced engine unit and transmission, a new carrier system, updated onboard radio and electronics equipment, improved flight and performance characteristics, and a new operation and maintenance system. It is planned that research and development, tests and certification of the new Mi-171A2 will have been completed by the end of 2013.

The Dubai Aeroshow will also feature the products of the Compass Moscow Design Bureau, JSC, a State Corporation “Russian Technologies” company. This is state-of-the-art high-precision navigation equipment that operates with signals from satellite navigation systems GPS/GLONASS.

Compass employs state-of-the-art technology for the development of GPS/GLONASS navigation equipment, which is used in products supplied to aviation and space-rocket facilities, support systems for high-precision weapons, battlefield navigation and emergency search and rescue systems.

For navigation in conditions of natural and artificial interference, Compass designs satellite navigation equipment with enhanced interference immunity, facilitating complete solutions to any brief.

The GLONASS-M satellite, launched this autumn, completed the formation of an orbital system group, designed for the simultaneous operation of 24 spacecraft. The signal of the Russian GLONASS satellite navigation system will now be available for unrestricted reception 24 hours a day worldwide and the location of an object will be determined up to a five meter proximity. After the launch of GLONASS-K spacecraft this value will fall to just one meter. Rosoboronexport is currently studying offers from foreign partners which involve the joint use of this unique space system.

The joint Russian exhibition will feature the best models of civil and military aircraft from United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). Visitors to the civil sector of the exhibition will get acquainted with such models as the Sukhoi Superjet 100, Sukhoi Business Jet and MS-21. UAC is also presenting a 3D-simulator for aircraft of the MiG-29 family, facilitating three-dimensional visualization of the space outside the cabin.

The aerospace exhibition in Dubai is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the key achievements of the Russian aircraft industry, and it is also an effective business platform. The Russian delegation has scheduled a number of meetings and negotiations with existing customers and prospects during the event. The Middle East and North Africa is a region with good prospects for Russia as regards the development of military-technical cooperation. The participants of the joint Russian exhibition are confident that Dubai Airshow 2011 will be instrumental in promoting further business relationships with Russian aircraft buyers, as well as international technological cooperation, and will form the basis for mutually profitable contracts.
