OREANDA-NEWS. November 14, 2011. The National Bank of Belarus is expected to withdraw from the shareholding structure of agribusiness companies and some other institutions, which are not related to banking, the NBB information department said.

As previously reported, the National Bank of Belarus will no longer perform functions that are untypical of central banks. The motion to rearrange the central bank’s scope of authorities originates from President Lukashenko’s Ordinance No. 477.

The president’s ordinance bans the National Bank from taking part in non-banking business entities and extending credits to organizations other than commercial banks and the government under the law on the national budget for the following fiscal year.
