OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2011. Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Poland shows dynamic growth, the head of the Department on assisting trade and investment of Poland Embassy in Tashkent Slawomir Strzalkowski said.

Slawomir Strzalkowski stated that the Uzbek-Polish trade turnover, in line with the preliminary data, grew by 25% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2011. The growth of Polish exports to Uzbekistan rose by 151% in the reporting period.

Strzalkowski said that the growth of supplies from Poland to Uzbekistan was recorded in such goods groups as “Live animal and animal products” (4.3 times), “Plant products” (3.4%), “Mineral products” – two times.

The growth of chemical products from Poland reached 170%, furniture and timber products – by 2.8 times, machinery and equipment – by 151% and products from non-precious metals – by three times, he added.

Strzalkowski also said that interest of Polish businesses in ready food products from Uzbekistan as exports of these goods to Poland grew by 3940% in the reporting period.

Uzbekistan also increased supply of chemical goods to Poland by 121% and its share in total Poland’s imports from Uzbekistan reached 38.1%, the heads of Department on assisting trade and investment said.

Supplies of mineral products from Uzbekistan to Poland remained almost on the same level and its share reached 32.1% in total Uzbek exports to Poland, he stated.

He said that organization of the Polish-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, Third Polish Exhibition and Polish-Uzbek Business Forum, which took place in May 2011, helped to boost trade turnover.

Slawomir Strzalkowski underlined that Poland considers Uzbekistan as important country in the region and these events showed that Poland can be serious partner for Uzbekistan.
