OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2011. As a part of on-going mega exercise to discuss Railway projects and connected activities pertaining to a State, the Union Railway Minister Shri Dinesh Trivedi to-day, i.e. on 17-11-2011 visited Bhopal on a one day tour to Madhya Pradesh, accompanied by Chairman Railway Board Shri Vinay Mittal, Member Traffic Shri K.K.Shrivastava, Member Engineering Shri A.P.Mishra and other Railway Board officials. He held discussions with the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan and the Members of Parliament of that State. General Manager of West Central Railway (Jabalpur Headquarter) Shri S.V.Arya, Divisional Railway Manager, Bhopal Shri Ghanshyam Singh and various Officers of West Central Railway Headquarters and Bhopal division were among those present at the meeting. Some Members of Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh and other Senior Officers of the Madhya Pradesh State attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the Union Railway Minister Shri Dinesh Trivedi said that such meetings have given him an opportunity to personally understand the issues pertaining to State from the State Government and from the Members of Parliament of that State. He assured that all the issues raised here in the meeting would be examined by him and the Railway Board earnestly in a fixed time frame and suitable measures would be taken to implement them as far as possible. The Railway Minister pointed out that the growth of the country depends upon the growth of Railways and it is, therefore, necessary to work together to ensure effective development and expansion of Railway network across the country. Shri Trivedi said that Railways have limited resources and sought co-operation of the State Government in implementing the Railway projects.

In his address Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Shivaraj Singh Chauhan outlined various important Railway projects of Madhya Pradesh and requested the Railway Minister to expedite their implementation. Members of Parliament attending meeting raised Railway issues pertaining to their respective constituencies.

Earlier the Railway Minister accompanied by Senior Railway Officials visited Bhopal and Habibganj railway stations and ascertained various facilities pertaining to passenger amenities.

After taking over as Railway Minister, Shri Trivedi had announced that he will undertake such tours to different States for ensuring balanced growth and development of Railway network and facilities in different parts of the country. The Railway Minister first visited Nagaland in the month of September 2011, followed by visits to Karnataka and Kerala in October 2011. The visit to Madhya Pradesh is 4th in the series.

The meetings have so far been quite successful and have received appreciations. These visits have started a new chapter of cooperation between the Ministry of Railways and the respective State Governments for the implementation of various Railway facilities and projects. On such meeting, various on the spot decisions too have been taken and these have also paved the way for resolutions of pending issues.
