OREANDA-NEWS. November 18, 2011. The 8th International Conference of the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories (AECSD) "Global Opportunities of Local Markets: Infrastructure and Regulation" organized jointly with theInternational Association of Exchanges of the Commonwealth of Independent States countries (IAEx of CIS) was held in Yerevan, Armenia. Among the conference's organizers were the Central Depository of Armenia open joint stock company (CDA) and NASDAQ OMX Armenia.

In the second day of the event an annual general meeting of the AECSD members (AGM) took place. The participants of the AGM summed up the results of the Association's activities for 2010, elected management bodies and approved general directions for the AESCD's development.

The AGM made the following decisions:
To approve a decision to hold the 9th International Conference of the AECSD in 2012 in Kiev, Ukraine. The Ukrainian Securities Depository Joint Stock Company was approved as an organizer of the event; the National Depository of Ukraine was approved as a co-organizer;
To approve a decision to hold the 10th International Conference of the AECSD in 2013 in the Russian Federation. National Settlement Depository was approved as an organizer of the forum;
To approve an amended AESCD Resolution providing a status of an observer and a status of the Deputy Chairman of the AESCD;
To elect Nikolai Shvetsov, Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Securities Depository Joint Stock Company (AUSD), as the Chairman of the Association, andEddie Astanin, Chairman of the Executive Board of NSD, as the Deputy Chairman of the AECSD in compliance with the new Resolution;
To elect the members of the working group "CSD12 Steering Committee"; to award a commendation to Dmitry Ryabichenko, Central Securities Depository of Uzbekistan, for development of a brand identity for CSD12 Forum;
To terminate activities of the working group "Correspondent relations."

The participants of the conference discussed issues of a cross-border interactions and compatibility of exchange and depository operations, as well as global and local services provided by depositories and exchanges. The aspects of distant servicing of non-residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, peculiarities of development of the central depository in India and other important issues were also considered by the delegates of the forum.

Over 100 delegates attended the conference on the opening day. Among the speakers were representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Central Bank of Armenia, delegates from central depositories of the countries - AESCD members, South Korea and India, as well as representatives of the CIS countries' exchanges and international organizations operating in securities markets (Clearstream Banking S.A., SWIFT).
