OREANDA-NEWS. November 21, 2011. Kazakhstan and UNDP can take their cooperation to a new level, Kori Udovicki, Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS said after her meeting with Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov on Monday.

"The conversation was mostly about the growing role of Kazakhstan in the international arena. We've discussed the obligations taken by Kazakhstan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that affect climate change," Mrs. Udovicki told.

The sides also considered Kazakhstan's participation in the conference that will be held in Rio de Janeiro in July 2012. Udovicki noted that Kazakhstan's sustainable economic growth should be reflected by the Kazakh side during the conference.

There was also  a discussion  of the role of Kazakhstan as a donor in the programmes implemented by UNDP. High value was given to the work of Kazakhstan in the Central Asian region, as well as Somali. Questions of  stepping Kazakhstan into new level of partnership with UNDP were also discusseed. In the current, UNDP has implemented 123 project in Kazakhstan, and 30 more are in the process of realization.
