OREANDA-NEWS. November 23, 2011. First Container Terminal (FCT) after having increased its capacity up to 1,350,000 TEU in 2011 implemented a series of specific measures to prepare for the winter operation.

This year FCT has significantly extended its fleet of snow-removal equipment. The terminal has purchased additional machines to remove snow from the yard. Among the latest purchases - front loaders Hyundai and dump trucks Kamaz. They will complete FCT's fleet of specialized equipment already in operation.

During the winter a snow-melting machine will work at the terminal. Also this year an additional steam generator will be put in service to speed up de-icing operations.

Besides, the terminal has offered its help to the city’s public utilities in snow removing from the area and roads around the port.

The package of measures implemented at FCT will make operations during the winter more efficient in terms of timely containerships handling and container dispatch by truck and railroad.
