OREANDA-NEWS. November 25, 2011. Serving passengers with disabilities in the State Enterprise "International airport" Boryspil" has been engaged in specially trained staff. In addition, this category of passengers is served out of turn.

"According to the Decree of President of Ukraine, we had created division that provides services to disabled passengers. For this purpose, there was formed a group that has 15 people and operates around the clock, depending on the transportation plan: day - five people at night – two," the Head of the airport station complex of the airport "Boryspil" Sergiy Hombolevskiy reported.

According to him, the staff for assistance for persons with physical disabilities was trained to work with this category of passengers. In addition, staffing unit speaks English. "These people know how to service people with physical disabilities, particularly with impaired sight and hearing - that is, all those that need special attention and special care," Sergiy Hombolevskiy emphasized.

For serving of passengers who cannot capable to move independently, there is about 50 carriages at the airport, some of which can be used in the cabins of airplanes – we are talking about so-called "narrow carts" that can pass between the seats of the aircraft.

Also for the free independent movement of passengers with physical disabilities, in the territory of an airport station complex, there are construct ramps, elevators and escalators, in all terminals there are specially equipped toilets: all in accordance with international and national standards.

Airport "Boryspil" has a special vehicle - ambulift - for embarkation / disembarkation of passengers who cannot own up the ramp. According to Sergiy Hombolevskiy, several ambulifts will be purchased to Euro 2012.

All Airport Apron Buses equipped with special platforms to disabled passengers that the passenger with physical disabilities could freely enter and exit the vehicle. Thus, functionality of the airport can meet the maintenance requirements of passengers with disabilities in full.
