OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2011. MMX Mineracao e Metalicos S.A informs its shareholders and the market in general that it has completed the drilling of the Sudeste Superport tunnel. The tunnel is 1.8 km long, 11 meters in height and 20 meters wide.

"The completion of the tunnel is a very significant milestone for our business. This tunnel transforms a quarry into a port that will allow that at least 50 million tons of Brazilian iron ore be traded on the seaborne market.

However, the tunnel has been built contemplating an expansion of the Sudeste Superport to a capacity of 100 million tons of iron ore per year as we believe there will be demand for more quality iron ore", concludes Roger Downey, CEO of MMX.
