OREANDA-NEWS. November 29, 2011. Power Machines OJSC has manufactured and tested in-house a 1,200 MW high-speed turbogenerator designed for the first power unit of Leningradskaya NPP-2 (LNPP-2), which is currently under construction.

In May 2008 Power Machines and Atomenergoprom JSC signed contracts to supply a set of basic equipment for the turbine hall at Novovoronezhskaya NPP-2 (NVNPP-2) and LNPP-2 being under construction. The total contract value exceeds 40 billion rubles. Under the terms of these contracts Power Machines are to provide engineering, manufacturing and delivery of four complete turbine sets, including steam turbines, condensers, basic auxiliary equipment of turbine plant systems (heat exchanging and pumping equipment, pipelines and necessary accessories), as well as four turbine generator sets including components of auxiliary systems, excitation systems and an exciter. Moreover, Power Machines are to carry out supervision of installation and commissioning works at the NPP sites.

Some time ago Power Machines manufactured and successfully tested two 1,200 MW steam turbines (one for LNPP-2 and another for NVNPP-2) and also a 1,200 MW turbogenerator for NVNPP-2.

These 1,200 MW high-speed steam turbines and turbine generators for NPPs are Power Machines’ new developments with a focus on new-generation nuclear power units with increased reliability and safety. Such power units are being built in Russia within the framework of NPP-2006 project. ТЗВ-1200-2 turbine generators designed and produced by Power Machines for NNPP-2 and LNPP-2 represent a development of a series of fully water-cooled turbine generators - highly efficient, explosion-proof and fire-resistant turbine NPP generators that have no analogues in the world nuclear power plant engineering. Fundamentally new design solutions for these turbine generators have been perfected by Power Machines' specialists at 800 MW turbine generators having been in operation for a long time at the Ryazanskaya SDPP and Permskaya SDPP and also at an 890 MW turbine generator manufactured in 2010 for the 4th Beloyarskaya NPP power unit, which is currently under construction.

NVNPP-2 and LNPP-2 are the first nuclear power plants to be built from scratch in Russia within the last fifteen years.
