OREANDA-NEWS. December 5, 2011. Basic Element Group has announced the appointment of Arkady Sarkisyan as head of its construction division. Arkady Sarkisyan will oversee the implementation of a number of Russia's largest housing and infrastructure projects, including the construction of sites for the "Sochi-2014" Olympic Games.

Arkady Sarkisyan has been tasked by the shareholders with the key objectives of further increasing the efficiency of Construction Division' s companies, the quality of their output, optimising their manufacturing processes in order to reduce costs and maintain their financial stability.

"The Basic Element Construction Division is both economically important to the Group and socially-oriented in a significant way. The Russian construction market today not only set serious challenges, but also provides fantastic opportunities, from which our businesses, workers and consumers can truly benefit", commented Arkady Sarkisyan on his appointment.

About Arkady Sarkisyan

Before joining the Group's construction division, he served as a Member of the 5th assembly State Duma, as a Representative of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Khakassia in the Federal Council and as the Republic's First Deputy Prime Minister. Arkady Sarkisyan previously worked as Executive Director of GAZ, Vice-president of the Sibal Group and Deputy General Director at the Sayan Aluminum Plant. He also served 20 years in the Russian Navy retiring as captain III rank.

Arkady Sarkisyan is a graduate of Khakas State University with a major in law and the P. Nakhimov Black Sea Higher Naval School. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Training Faculty at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. He defended his doctoral dissertation on "Anti-crisis management at the enterprises" at the Saint Petersburg State University in 2000.
