OREANDA-NEWS. December 8, 2011. In November 21, 2011 in Hanoi (the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) the co-chairmen meeting of the Russian-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Committee on trade-and-economic and science-and-technical cooperation was successfully held. From the Russian side the first deputy chairman of the Russian Government, Igor Shuvalov, took part in the meeting, from the Vietnamese side – the deputy Prime-minister of Vietnam, Huang Chong Hai.

Within the frames of this meeting two Intergovernmental agreements were signed. Thus, the Ministry of Finance of Russia and Vietnam signed an agreement on granting of state credits for the first Vietnamese NPP construction under the Russian technology. The document was signed by the deputy Minister of finance of Russia, Sergey Storchak, and his Vietnamese partner, Chang Suan Ha. The contract for Feasibility Study development for NPP construction was also signed during the meeting. JSC Atomstroyexport, a company of the State Corporation Rosatom acts as the General contractor of the nuclear power plant construction.

At the same time an Intergovernmental agreement for construction of a nuclear science and technology center in Vietnam was concluded. The General director of the State Corporation Rosatom, Sergey Kiriyenko, and the deputy Minister of science and technology of Vietnam, Lie Din Tien put their signatures in the agreement. Pursuant to the terms and conditions of the Intergovernmental agreement JSC Atomstroyexport will also become the General contractor of the Vietnamese nuclear science and technology center, which will include a research nuclear reactor, research laboratories, equipment and infrastructure to ensure safe operation of the Center.
