OREANDA-NEWS. December 8, 2011. Anhui province has achieved an annual target of 200,000 units of affordable houses, the provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development said Tuesday.

As of November 30, construction on 429,000 units of government-funded houses had been started. Out of them, 205,000 units were completed, which enabled the province to exceed its annual target a month earlier.

The housing authorities said they will continue to push the under-construction projects so that they can be completed as scheduled and house more low-income families as soon as possible.

According to the provincial affordable housing program for the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) period, up to 1.7 million units of policy-related houses will be built for urban low-income families by 2015. Affordable housing coverage will increase from 5.6 percent in 2010 to 20 percent in 2015.
