OREANDA-NEWS. December 8, 2011. Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On State Budget of Ukraine for 2011" for an increase in social spending.

These changes were initiated by the government because at the end of 2011 it is expected to increase monthly charges for the payment of social benefits due to the increased size and cost of living increase in the number of recipients of such benefits, including:

- The care of a child under 3 years old - 11.5%, or more than 150 thousand recipients;
- The children of single mothers - by 12.1% or by more than 72 thousand recipients;
- Temporary state allowance for children - by 37.6% or more than 24 thousand recipients;
- Benefits to disabled from childhood group II - 34.3% or by more than 16 thousand recipients;
- Benefits to disabled from childhood group III - 48.5%, or more than 23 thousand recipients.

Thus, the adopted amendments to the budget provide additional resources for financial support unprotected citizens. Thus, the expenditure of USD 800.8 million UAH will be aimed at providing additional financial resources to families with children, poor families, disabled children, disabled children, and a temporary public assistance to children and to avoid getting into debt for these payments.

Also part of the funds will support the local budgets to ensure timely payment of salaries to teachers, doctors, other categories of state employees.

To balance local budgets increased amount of additional subsidies to equalize the financial security of local budgets for 1070 mln. and the amount of subsidy from the state budget to local budgets to compensate for the reduced fare of certain categories of citizens to 162 million hryvnia.

Once adopted, amendments to the budget will ensure the timely payment of wages to budget-funded employees, allowances for families with children, poor families, disabled children, disabled children and children of temporary public assistance, payment for the consumed budget institutions and energy utilities, transportation and preferential categories of citizens etc.
