OREANDA-NEWS. December 13, 2011. A contest of selecting a private partner for the construction of a multi-storey car-park at the Chisinau International Airport was officially launched. The car-park will be built in line with the European Union's requirements, with a minimal capacity of 700 places and a surface of at least 7,500 square metres.

The Public Property Agency (APP) initiated the project in 2010 as part of a plan for the modernization of the airport's infrastructure. Its goal is to increase the flow of passengers.

APP director-general Tudor Copaci told a news conference today that about 4 to 5 million euros is expected to be invested in the construction of the multi-storey car-park during one year. The project will be financed in accordance with the DBOT principles (Design-Build-Operate-Transfer). Thus the concessionaire will design, build and ensure the operational stage of the car-park, and will be given assurances of recouping the investment.

Copaci said that the facility will be leased for 20 years, with the concessionaire having the opportunity to develop its infrastructure (hotel, fast-food and other trade services), which will ensure a higher profit.
