OREANDA-NEWS. December 13, 2011. A Russian-German business meeting was held at the Russian embassy in Berlin.

CCI of Russia President Sergey Katyrin, ex-German Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, CCI of Russia Vice-President Georgy Petrov, executives of leading Russian and German companies and banks and heads of regional chambers of commerce and industry of Russia and Germany attended the meeting.

Sergey Katyrin stressed in his greetings that more than 6,000 companies with German capital are working in Russia, and there are more than 3,000 Russian companies in Germany. Yet trade dominates in the structure of bilateral business contacts. Time requires totally new approaches and cooperation forms. Russia with its scientific and technological potential and resources and Germany with its knowledge economy may jointly open high-tech plants and use more fully the potential of interaction between medium companies.

CCI of Russia President Sergey Katyrin made a report, “Russia and Germany – The Future through Innovations”, at the plenary meeting.

There were four roundtables on the meeting sidelines, among them “Framework for Business in Russia and Germany,” “Starting up Companies in Russia and Germany”, “Partnership between Russia and German Enterprises” and “Financing of Joint Projects.”

The meeting participants discussed ways to optimize joint business activity, revealed impediments and ways to remove them in the establishment of joint ventures, considered various aspects of cooperation between Russia and German enterprises, made a review of available instruments in the funding of joint projects and suggested additional measures in financial support of banks in both countries to trade, economic and investment activity.
