OREANDA-NEWS. December 14, 2011. Belarus’ chemical company OJSC Grodno Azot increased fertilizer production 6.2% on the year in January-October 2011 to 607,600 tonnes (in terms of 100% nitrogen), a representative in the administration of the country told reporters.

Ammonia carbamide production grew 9.2% to 622,500 tonnes, ammonia sulphate production increased 11.6% to 318,600 tonnes, carbamide production edged 3,8% to 766,200 tonnes.

Ammonia production totaled 869,300 tonnes, up 3.4%, caprolactam – 108,800 tonnes, up 4.4%.

Commodity output in October totaled Br2.22 billion in fixed prices, 9.8% down.

Grodno Azot was set up in 1963 and transformed into an open joint-stock company in 2002. The Belarusian government holds a 99.97% stake. The annual capacity is estimated at 305,000 tonnes of sulphuric acid, 645,700 tonnes of nitrogen fertilizers, 111,200 tonnes of caprolactam and 55,400 tonnes of methanol.
