OREANDA-NEWS. December 22, 2011. Belarus’ retail turnover, including the public catering sector, went up 9.6% on the year in January-October 2011 to 82.1 trillion Belarusian rubles (USD 9.5 billion at the central bank’s rate), an official with the National Statistics Committee reporters Tuesday.

Sales by public catering organizations rose 0.8% to 3.9 trillion rubles.

Of the total, trade organizations accounted for 79.1%, and individual entrepreneurs and newly formed unitary companies accounted for the rest.

Belarusian-made consumer goods accounted for 76.4% of the retail trade turnover. The share of Belarusian foodstuffs was at 85.8%, Belarusian non-foods at 64.7% in retail trade.

The share of private companies in the total retail turnover was at 84.4% (83.8% the year before), state companies 11.7% (12.5%), while the share of foreign companies stood at 3.9% (3.7%).
