OREANDA-NEWS. December 28, 2011. India’s largest integrated private power utility Tata Power’s wholly-owned subsidiary Coastal Gujarat Power (CGPL) has undertaken an oath to ensure safety at work through a unique initiative called ’Khushboo Suraksha ki. Recently through a cultural programme at the CGPL plant, Tata Power again upheld the cause of safety among the workers at its Mundra plant.

It has been a continuous endeavour at CGPL, Mundra, to develop a safety culture among workers through various activities. With the same vision, the safety, health and environment department of CGPL recently undertook Khushboo Suraksha ki. The cultural programme was prepared and presented by the contractors’ workmen working at the Mundra site. They were assisted by AKKAR, an NGO which is helping Tata Power in motivating the contractors’ workmen and promoting safety and good behaviour amongst them.

In Khushboo Suraksha ki, the participants presented the idea of safety through various motivating songs and bhajans. They also demonstrated the channels of safety and the implementation of the same in daily life at the plant through street plays. At the end of the programme the participating artists were felicitated. The senior leadership team also congratulated all the workers and contractors for their support in achieving 10 million safe man-hours.

Speaking on the initiative, Alok Kanagat, executive director, CGPL, said, “Safety is of utmost importance to us. It is absolutely delightful to see the workers presenting such a splendid programme on safety measures in the plant. This is a very effective way of engaging the workforce with the motto of safety. It’s our endeavour to bring safety into the DNA of our organisation.”
