OREANDA-NEWS. December 28, 2011. Transstroymekhanisatsiya (TSM, a Mostotrest subsidiary) has won an open tender for a construction and assembly contract under the Sheremetyevo International Airport Upgrade and Development Project (Stage 1). Federal State Unitary Enterprise Civil Airport (Airfield) Administration will act as the client under the project, which received a total of five bids, including from ENGEOCOM Association, Transstroy and TSM. TSM came out as the winner in the tender, based on bid evaluation results.

Sheremetyevo International Airport Upgrade and Development Project (Stage 1) has been developed pursuant to a decree by the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya), and is an integral part of the Federal Target Program Modernization of Russia's Transport System.

The project envisions upgrade and extension of the airport infrastructure in accordance with traffic projections. Specifically, TSM will upgrade Sheremetyevo-2 tarmac which links to Runway 2, upgrade taxiways (TW-12, TW-13 and TW-14); extend Sheremetyevo-1 western tarmac and arrange polyvalent multi-type aircraft parking stands; and build an aircraft antifreeze treatment stand. In accordance with the contract, Runway 2 taxiways will be upgraded with no hindrance to Runway 1 operation.

In addition, TSM will upgrade drainage facilities, install lighting navigational aids, aircraft parking stand light towers, terminal building light warning systems and lightning arresters.

All project solutions are in line with ICAO requirements. International Civil Aviation Organization is a UN agency, which sets international civil aviation standards and oversees its development with a view to ensure safety and efficiency.

Commenting on the tender results the General Director of TSM Boris Sakun said: "Sheremetyevo International Airport is one of the biggest airports in Russia, which makes the upgrade project an important step towards an increased throughput of the national transport system and towards the country's integration into international transport flows. TSM does already have a successful experience of work for Sheremetyevo, where TSM was engaged in artificial Runway 2 construction. Since its establishment, TSM has been focused on airport infrastructure development and upgrade projects, and has significant experience in the sector, gathered, among others, from the Sochi, Vladivostok, Vnukovo and Khotilovo airport upgrade projects. This enables us to guarantee the client precision and quality of execution of this important project".
