OREANDA-NEWS. December 30, 2011. Interpipe NMPP has implemented this year’s largest project on energy efficiency improvement by commissioning a new turbine compressor produced by Samsung Techwin Company (Korea). The principal objective of this investment project is to reduce the consumption of electric energy in the production of compressed air required for pneumatic equipment operation.

This new equipment with higher energy efficiency decreases annual electric energy consumption by 3 million kilowatt, which amount to approximately USD 265,000 a year (based on the current electric energy prices). The total investment into the project is USD 600,000.

The project has passed the independent ecological audit, conducted by Global Carbon Ukraine Company, and is a part of the programme aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere. Thanks to this new equipment, Interpipe NMPP will reduce the СО2 emissions by 3 thousand tons a year, which is one-third less than with the performance of the old equipment.

Yuriy Antipov, OJSC Interpipe NMPP Chairman of the Board, has commented: "One of the top-priorities for Interpipe NMPP is a focuse on energy efficiency improvement and reduction of the environmental stress in the region. In 2011 Interpipe NMPP has invested USD 1.1 million into the production development, and a considerable part of these funds has been allocated to reducing the consumption of electric resources".
