OREANDA-NEWS. January 3, 2012. Uralkali (LSE: URKA), one of the world’s largest potash producers, has been informed that on 22 December 2011 the Federal Antimonopoly Service ("FAS") of the Russian Federation dismissed the case against Uralkali for absence of infringement of the antimonopoly legislation.

In October 2011 the FAS of the Russian Federation launched an investigation into the alleged setting of monopolistic high prices for potash by Uralkali, in breach of the Federal Law of the Russian Federation "On Protection of Competition". The investigation was launched following complaints from consumers of potash in relation to what they see as unjustified price increases.

Uralkali supplies potash to the domestic market in compliance with the Regulations on non-discriminatory access to the purchase of potash developed by the FAS and the Company’s Marketing Policy approved by the FAS.

Vladislav Baumgertner, Uralkali CEO:

"We welcome the decision of the FAS that reaffirms that Uralkali supplies potash to the domestic market in full compliance with the current legislation. We are committed to further observing the antitrust legislation and acting according to the price formula agreed with the FAS. "
