OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2012. Belarus has seen the consumer price index grow 1.7% over the first 20 days of December to total 107.5% since early this year, the National Statistics Committee told.

The largest increase in retail prices has been registered with beer (7.6%), first-grade beef (5.6%), fruit juices (4.7%), mayonnaise (3.5%), margarine (3.2%), live fish (2.8%), prefabricated beef, smoked sausage, canned meat, tinned fish, oat flakes, wheat flour, confectionery goods, soft beverages (1.5-2.6%), petrol (10.3%), medications (5.4%), kitchen dishes (3.3%), knitwear garments (2.2%), fabrics (1.9%), kindergarten fees (93.9%), medical services (11.1%), household services and utilities (6.8%), communication tariffs (6.2%), healthcare resort vocations (3.2%).

Belarus’ inflation grew 9.9% in 2010 (10.1% in 2009). The forecast for 2011 stands at 7.5%-8.5%. On second thought, the government reconsidered its forecast upgrading the figure to 118%.
