OREANDA-NEWS. January 16, 2012. Moldasig, insurance company, has expressed bewilderment on it being accused of insurance compensation evasion. The accusation was voiced at a meeting in the ministry of agriculture.

Last Wednesday at the special session in the ministry of agriculture it was discussed the issue concerning MoldAsig, insurance company, non-paying compensations for sugar beets insured against and suffered from drought. In 2011 47 producers of sugar beets insured a harvest against drought. In accordance with the law about the budget for 2011 they paid 40% of the insurance premium – the rest 60% are paid from the state budget.

The arrears in payment by Moldasig is groundless and representatives of the company neglected this session, the press service of the ministry of agriculture has noted. Vitalie Bodea, President of Moldasig, as giving an interview to InfoMarket, has stated that his company was not invited to the session in the ministry of agriculture and the ministry admitted this fact later. According to Vitalie Bodea, within two months since June, 2011, the moment when the contracts of insurance came into effort, the state budget must have transferred to Moldasig the insurance premium at a sum of 11 mln. leis.

However, the money was transferred with the 4-month delay – in December. The fact is, the insurance premium was received by the company after the occurrence of loss and the insurance law was violated. Moldasig addressed to the National Commission on Financial Market with the request to clarify whether the company has to pay the compensation if the law was violated or not. After being answered in the affirmative, Moldasig is preparing to start payments of compensations since Tuesday, January, 17. Vitalie Bodea has stressed Moldasig acting strictly following the law in force and thoroughly examining each event insured.

Most producers have collected all necessary documents and will be given the compensations, the president of Moldasig has said. However, according to him, there are some entities which are trying to gain from the situation. In particular, the matter concerns the enterprises which are trying to exaggerate losses after being already expertized by specialists of Moldasig. The specialists in their turn try to avert possible incidents of insurance swindling.

All losses will be compensated in accordance with the law and the insurance contracts, Vitalie Bodea has emphasized. He expressed bewilderment on the fuss made over this matter: last year, in March, the company has paid off insurance compensations at a sum of 6 mln. leis and nobody tried to exert pressure on the process. This year the sum acknowledged to be compensated has already made up 20 mln. leis. But due to the fault of assured entities, necessary inspections and damages assessments has not been completed yet.
