OREANDA-NEWS. January 16, 2012. Passenger traffic of Domodedovo Airport in 2011 amounted to 25,701,610 people, a 15.5% increase compared to 2010. This result represents a historical peak, not only of Domodedovo, but also of all air harbors of Russia. Crossing the mark of 25,000,000 passengers since the beginning of the year - this significant event was recorded by the airport on December 21, 2011 - Domodedovo Airport was the first Russian airport to enter the group of the largest airports in Europe (according to the ACI classification).

In 2011, Domodedovo Airport operated 243,198 flights, a 14.8% increase compared to 2010.

Domestic passenger traffic amounted to 10,224,153 people, which is 17.6% more than in 2010. The highest growth was recorded in the following domestic routes: New Urengoy, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, and Vladivostok. 1,877,000 people have been served in these destinations, which is 48.4% more than the same period last year.

International passenger traffic was 15,477,457 people (plus 14.1% from 2010). The highest growth was recorded in the following destinations: Antalya, Barcelona, Dusseldorf, Burgas, and Munich. In 2011, 2,453,000 people used these destinations, which is 55.1% more than the same period last year.

The peak day in passenger traffic in 2011 was on August 14, when 109,239 passengers have been served. The peak number of takeoff and landing operations - 871 - were made on July 22.

In winter, the traditional period of increased passenger traffic is during the Christmas holidays. From December 28 to January 9, 2012, Domodedovo Airport operated 7,903 flights and served 879,120 people, which is 13.8% more than last year.

In 2011, cargo traffic of Domodedovo increased by 19.1% over the same period last year and amounted to 191,190 tons.
