OREANDA-NEWS.  January 17, 2012.  The gas pipeline is intended for fuel supply to the Sochi city and the resort area of the Black Sea coast. During the 2014 Winter Olympic Games gas and gas-based power and thermal energy will ensure operation of sports facilities, transport and tourist infrastructure.

The Dzhubga – Lazarevskoye – Sochi gas pipeline has onshore and offshore sections, with the latter constituting around 90 per cent of its total length: this helped prevent major deforestation and preserve natural reservations. The gas pipeline improves the environmental situation in the region by replacing the environmentally destructive coal and fuel oil by cleaner-burning natural gas and reducing air emissions of heat.

The Adler AGDS is an intermediate point on the gas supply route: it purifies natural gas, reduces or automatically maintains the target level of pressure and meters the fuel supplied to consumers. The Adler CHPS will be the major recipient of gas conveyed to Sochi via the Adler AGDS.

Upon commissioning, the station will be maintained twenty-four hours a day by the staff of two people in a shift mode. Assistance will be given to them by a cat also named Adler, the station resident.
