OREANDA-NEWS. January 19, 2012. Artem Polyakov has been appointed CEO of PJSC “ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih”. In this role he will replace V.V. Vaideeswaran, who was acting CEO starting from October 2011. Artem Polyakov will officially resume his responsibilities in Kryviy Rih after completing his official induction program at ArcelorMittal headquarters and finalizing all the necessary formalities. As a CEO Artem Polyakov will be responsible for further transforming ArcelorMIttal Kryvyi Rih into an efficient business with a keen focus on health and safety, executing large-scale modernization program, further stabilizing production and increasing market share.

His other key tasks will be to stabilizing production, continuation of modernization of our plant in Kryviy Rih and further facilitation of the dialog between ArcelorMittal as the country’s largest foreign investor and the Government of Ukraine. We are optimistic about our future prospects in Ukraine and we are committed to develop our business in this country”.

Artem Polyakov has extensive experience in change management, in realizing enterprises’ potential through corporate development, business restructuring and improving operational efficiency, and introduction of effective management processes. Prior to joining ArcelorMittal Artem Polyakov was CEO of Sugar Division of Rusagro Holding, one of the Russia’s largest agricultural holdings. Before that we was working for the French construction materials company Lafarge in various positions: Director Strategy and Business Development for CIS in Head Office in Paris as well as Chief Operating Officer CIS in Ukraine and Russia. His other experience includes successful management of the JSC Karelsky Okatysh, Russian iron-mining and pelletizing firm (Kostomuksha) as a Chief Financial Officer and later as a President and a CEO.

Mr. Polyakov holds an MBA degree from IMD (International Institute of Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland). He also received degree with honors in Military Engineering from Academy of Military Engineering (Moscow, Russian Federation) and a degree with honors in Cybernetics from Moscow State Lomonosov University (Moscow, Russia). Mr. Polyakov was born in Saratov (Russia) in 1965.
