OREANDA-NEWS. January 24, 2012. The “EUROCEMENT group” Holding, the largest cement producer in Russia, announced the launch of construction of the new high-tech cement plant in the Samara region. 

The “first” foundation stone laying solemn ceremony of the new high-tech “EUROCEMENT group” Holding cement plant took place on January 19, 2012 in Yablochniy Ovrag Village, the Samara Region. This event marked the beginning of construction of the new dry process cement plant with capacity of 6200 tons of clinker per day (2.4 million tons of cement per year). The plant will be commissioned in 2015 and occupy an area of 40 hectares.

The solemn ceremony was attended by Governor of the Samara Region Vladimir Vladimirovich Artyakov, Alexander Ivanovich Kurylin, Mayor of Zhigulevsk, Mikhail Anatolievich Skorokhod, President of the “EUROCEMENT group” Holding.

“The beginning of construction of the new cement plant is just another evidence that the industry in the Samara region is developing dynamically and investment attractiveness of our region is growing. This is one of the most significant investments in the production of building materials not only for our region, but on a national scale. 

Construction of a new, modern plant has great social significance for Zhigulevsk and province in general. This will create about 1,000 new jobs, increase tax revenues to the regional budget, and contribute to further enhancement of the scope and pace of construction of affordable housing in the region. It is essential that the project implies effective measures to protect the environment. This will be the most environmentally friendly plant in the construction industry. This plant will be fully consistent with the strategy of the regional government in environmental protection activities. I am confident that our partnership with the “EUROCEMENT group” Holding will be long and fruitful”, – said the Governor of the Samara Region Vladimir Artyakov at the opening ceremony.

According to Mikhail Skorokhod, President of the “EUROCEMENT group” Holding, “The beginning of implementation of the project to build a new “EUROCEMENT group” Holding cement plant will contribute to the development of infrastructure of the Samara region, create the necessary conditions for the growth of the welfare of its people, promote economic and social development of the region and enhance its investment attractiveness.”

The total holding investments in the construction of the new cement plant will amount to 16 billion rubles. 

Thanks to the commissioning of a high-performance cement plant of the “EUROCEMENT group” Holding production of building materials will increase. This fact will favor to the economy of the Samara region by increasing tax revenues to the budget. Productivity in the new plant, in comparison to the “wet” process cement production plants will increase by 3 times (!).  

The new plant will be the most modern production facility in the cement industry of the Volga Federal District. The aforementioned plant will implement the most technologically advanced solutions from leading European manufacturers of cement equipment. This will be facilitated by the possibility of implementing a number of complex solutions such as the processing of raw materials and diversification of production at the new cement plant. The above-mentioned measures will make it even more attractive to consumers. It should be noted that the withdrawal of capacities of the old plant in Yablochniy Ovrag Village will be gradual and will be fully completed only in 2015, when the new plant will be commissioned.

As was noted during the solemn ceremony, the ecological safety of production and environmental protection were priorities of the “EUROCEMENT group” Holding since its foundation. According to Mikhail Skorokhod, President of the “EUROCEMENT group” Holding, “Construction of the new environmentally friendly dry process cement plants is a priority for the Holding in the period until 2017.” Today “EUROCEMENT group”, JSC has developed and implementing large-scale programs on environmental and technical upgrading of cement plants belonging to the Holding.  

“The Holding investment program of 78 billion rubles, implies the construction of the new modern, environmentally friendly cement production facilities by 2017. Given the gradual withdrawal of the old capacities and introducing new plants the “EUROCEMENT group” Holding capacities will increase from 37.3 to 49 million tons per year for the period from 2011 to 2017. This will help maintain Holding’s leading position in the cement industry of the Russian Federation in the XXI century”, - said Mikhail Skorokhod, President of the “EUROCEMENT group” Holding.

Signing agreements with JSC FGC UES and general contractors and project designer took place within the frameworks of the solemn ceremony.
