OREANDA-NEWS.  January 27, 2012. During his visit to SvetlogorskKhimvolokno on 27 Janaury Belarus Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich set forth a task to enhance efficiency in the country's chemical industry,. According to the Belarusian head of government, the chemical industry shows great prospects in the economic development of the country. “The Belarusian chemical sector is among priority areas for the all-round modernization of our economy. This industry is energy-intensive.

The main task today is to enhance labor productivity, improve energy efficiency, start manufacturing competitive products and raise wages,” he said. Mikhail Myasnikovich saw two production lines at SvetlogorskKhimvolokno that were put into operation in late 2011. The first one was installed with the help of a €24-million loan from Japan. “The project improved energy efficiency by up to 40% and increased the capacity 1.6 times,” the Premier said. According to the head of government, SvetlogorskKhimvolokno met almost all targets last year. Despite the fact that the company had to work in difficult economic circumstances due to the rise in prices for raw materials and also the U.S. sanctions, it operated quite consistently and generated a production growth. “Not everything goes smooth for the company.

The main purpose of my trip is to create organizational and economic mechanisms so that the company could operate steady and continue with its upgrade effort,” the Prime Minister explained, adding that the economy here is in the negative. “According to the projections we now have this will be about Br200 billion (in losses – note by BelTA).This should not happen. Therefore we will look into all chains such raw materials, prices, etc., to make sure the enterprise makes profits and external circumstances do not affect the wages of employees,” the Prime Minister said. According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, a number of faults happened through the fault of Belneftekhim. Mikhail Myasnikovich is attending a meeting on the progress in upgrade programs at Belneftekhim companies in 2011, and prospects for the period up to 2015. The event is held at SvetlogorskKhimvolokno.
