OREANDA-NEWS. January 30, 2012. Belarus’ farm output increased 6.6% on the year in January-December 2011 to 56.7 trillion Belarusian rubles (USD 6.702 billion at the official exchange rate), a source in the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

Sales of fattened cattle and poultry rose 5.8% on the year in January-December to 1.5 million tonnes, milk output reduced 1.2% to 6.5 million tonnes, and egg output went up 1.8% to 3.6 billion units.

Grain production (after dry-processing) totalled 8.4 million tonnes (19.9% up on year), with the average grain yield standing at 32.3 centners per ha to compare with 26.6 centners in 2010.

Gross production of potatoes reduced 1.4% to 7.721 million, vegetables – 15.2% to 1.979 million tonnes, following the move to reduce crop acreage for potatoes by 12.3%, vegetables – 28.1%. The average yield of potato crops totalled 226 centners per ha to compare with 214 centners in 2010.

Sugar beet production rose 18.9% to 4.5 million tonnes, with crop yield at 453 centners per ha (395 centners in 2010).

Flax fibre production totalled 46,000 tonnes (up 0.6%).
