OREANDA-NEWS. January 30, 2012. India’s largest integrated private power player Tata Power’s Haldia power plant has consistently undertaken numerous initiatives to promote and ensure safety at the workplace — not only for its employees but also for the workmen and associates. In line with the company’s values of ‘I trust and care’, Tata Power’s Haldia plant has taken another step forward for making Haldia a safer plant.

As a part of its safety initiatives, Tata Power’s Haldia plant introduced Har Ek Friend Safety Ke Liye Zaroori Hota Hai — a safety drive comprising a safety booklet along with personal protective equipment (PPE) kit to ensure safety for all its partners. This booklet was inaugurated by S Padmanabhan, executive director, operations, during his visit to Haldia, and he also appreciated the overall safety drive undertaken by Haldia. Apart from its own employees, the Haldia plant has designed the safety booklet to create awareness among contract workmen by giving a brief demonstration on using of PPEs and its role in ensuring zero accident.

The safety booklet is available in both English and the local language, Bengali, for larger reach and awareness.

Speaking on this initiative, Vijayant Ranjan, station manager, Haldia power plant, said, “We will carry this unique safety campaign — Har Ek Friend Safety Ke Liye Zaroori Hota Hai — ahead for our workmen and employees and urge them to treat safety PPEs and equipment as their friends because they protect us from accidents and mishaps. We also have a moral responsibility towards their families and thus want to instil safety in the DNA of our organisation.”
